The City of Liverpool College, a leader in providing high-quality skills education, is proud to announce a series of exciting Eurovision events, in collaboration with the Ukrainian community, ahead of the grand event taking place in May 2023. The College will be hosting various events to celebrate Eurovision, Liverpool and Ukraine.

The events will showcase the talents of the College’s students across its 5 main campuses, with support from their tutors, in various fields such as media and photography, hospitality, fashion and the arts.

Find out more about the main events that will be happening over the next few weeks:

  • Academy Restaurant – Ukrainian Tasting Menu – 20th April, 6.30 pm and  “European Wine meets British Cheese!” – 21st and 28th April, 5.00-7.30 pm

The Academy Restaurant, at The City of Liverpool College’s Duke Street campus, is hosting two events in the run-up to Eurovision which promise to be a culinary delight for food lovers.

The first event, “Ukrainian Tasting Menu”, is an exclusive seven-course Eurovision-themed tasting menu inspired by countries that have had success in the competition. The menu has been specially prepared by the College’s budding hospitality students, under the guidance of experienced teaching staff.

The second event, “European Wine meets British Cheese!”, is a tasting of cheese and wine at The Academy Restaurant. This event is a collaboration between the College and the renowned Liverpool Cheese Company. Guests will enjoy a range of European wines, chosen to complement and pair perfectly with a selection of cheeses from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

  • HNC Fashion Eurovision Theme Project – Up to and after 24th April

The college’s HNC Fashion students will produce garments based on a Ukrainian theme, in recognition of the country’s host status, which will be displayed at the British Music Experience and Liverpool One, John Lewis Eurovision area from 24th April.

  • Eurovision Legacy Arts Festival – 9th, 10th, 11th May 2023

In addition to these events, The City of Liverpool College Arts Centre will host a Eurovision Legacy Arts Festival during the week of 8th May 2023. The festival will bring together primary, secondary and other FE providers in a celebration of Liverpool, Eurovision and Ukraine’s story. School pupils from across the city will create a piece of artwork, dance, acting, music, film or digital creation, all under the theme of “Eurovision United”.

  • The City of Liverpool College Egg Trail

Inspired by Culture Liverpool’s EuroLearn Pysanka Egg Display, the students in a variety of areas within the College (such as Welding, Art & Design, Academic Studies and Travel students) have been decorating eggs approximately 1.5m x 1m in size, which are being put on display during the lead up to and throughout Eurovision.

Students at each main site will be decorating a huge egg that will be displayed in the reception area, based on the theme of Eurovision. At three sites the eggs will be 2D, at the Arts Centre the egg will take a 3d form and at Vauxhall Road a 3D form in metal.

We have worked closely with the Ukrainian community and other partners to create an exciting programme of events that will bring together young people, arts, music and culture.
