Creative Neighbourhoods is an ongoing programme of collaborative projects and creative interventions that engage with communities and neighbourhoods throughout Liverpool, and include artistic residencies, development of public art, events and creative engagement workshops.
The work undertaken aims to address the needs of each community at a neighbourhood level, using co-creative practices to encourage local pride, a sense of place, inclusivity, accessibility and empowerment.
Using creative practices enables Culture Liverpool to provide alternative means of engagement that supports traditional consultation. This in turn allows us to better understand how best to support sustainable creativity for and by communities, celebrate local expertise and role models, provide up-skilling opportunities and signpost people to services that lack visibility or accessibility.
Working with the City Development and Neighbourhood & Housing Directorates we are able to support wider initiatives and regeneration programmes, collaborating with Planning, Highways, Street Scene, Safer Communities, Public Health, Youth services and other council and external partners to create and deliver high quality outputs based on community needs.
A sample of the community projects that we have been involved in can be seen below.
