The Neurodiversity Friendly Choir aimed to celebrate and bring together musical talents and showcase the positive strengths of the 1 in 5 people with neurodevelopmental differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and Tourette’s syndrome.

The choir created an environment where singing and music empowers neurodiverse individuals to connect, collaborate and celebrate their identity; allowing them to find their voice, be themselves and make a positive impact within their community.

Rachel McFarlane, recording artist, singer-songwriter, and founder of Amplified Voices CIC worked with young people of a neurodiverse majority with different cognitive sensibilities from the Ergemont Primary School and Great Meols Primary School, to create a choir that would tailor to the needs of the participants as well as showcasing the strengths of their collective voice.

Rachel’s artistry has seen her diversify into different aspects of the entertainment industry, including stage and musicals, culminating in her starring in the multi award winning play ‘Rent’, both in the West End and on the extensive UK tour.

She led a series of song inspiration and singing workshops with choir members and co-created a brand-new upbeat, joyous song which the choir debuted on the Eurovision Village Stage. The choir was joined by Professor Stephen Davismoon and Dr Tom Sykes of Liverpool Hope University who kindly lent their support with live music backing.
