The University of Liverpool Library is home to a special and unique collection of Cunard archives, containing most of the surviving business records produced by Cunard since it became a limited company in 1878 – an invaluable resource for researching Cunard’s growth and development.

Occupying over 400 linear metres, the archive is arranged to reflect the departments and functions present within the business. There are records across various media ranging from committee papers and minutes to correspondence and publicity material. The archive is complemented by Cunard Associated Deposits, a collection of items donated by individuals with personal connections to the shipping company.

Researchers are welcome to consult materials from across SCA’s collections by booking a Reading Room appointment through their website.
