Join The Bluecoat for a weekend of activities celebrating Chinese New Year.
Saturday 21 January | 1-4pm
Movema will be at The Bluecoat sharing Chinese dance, stories and music. Join in with this fun workshop to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Drop in between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
There will also be a variety of creative activities inspired by the Year of the Rabbit. Drop in from 1-4pm.
Activities are free but donations on the door are welcome.
Sunday 22 January | 1-4pm
Beatrice Png Jiaxing (Ji-a – Xin-g) is a creative, whose illustrative works often feature communities and quirky personas of herself in different scenarios. Beatrice’s work portrays a range of communities and explores how a sense of belonging is crucial to one’s self.
Her work also features portraits of girls (which she has fashioned after herself), who are depicted in an intentionally peculiar manner. Beatrice first began drawing the portraits in 2013 and they have been evolving ever since.
During this workshop, children will explore Beatrice’s artworks and styles using different mediums to create their own self portraits.
