To celebrate this important event we are also hosting our special Wartime Weekend on Feb 29 & Mar 1 where there will be lots happening as part of the event to ensure your weekend in Liverpool is as memorable as possible. There will be:
- Re-enactors will recreate the workings of the HQ with displays and ‘performances’ in the Ops Room and Radio Room.
- Vintage civilian and military vehicles will be displayed on Exchange Flags square
- Today’s Royal Marines will abseil down Exchange Flags buildings and perform an unarmed combat display
- The prime Minister, Winston Churchill will once again be visiting both days and performing some of his most memorable speeches.
- Wartime entertainment will be provided by Hattie Bee (princess Elizabeth) and ‘George Formby’ on both days in the NAAFi
- Vintage stalls will be open in the Green Room selling a variety of vintage goods
- Talks & presentations on WA during the war from our own curator
- Variety of military and civilian re-enactors wandering around the museum and Exchange Flags, taking us back to the 1940’s
