Spriteworks features a gathering of ‘PIXEL’s which float across the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in the first ever physical manifestation of Pastel Castle’s work!

The pixel cubes can be thought of as 3-dimensional television screens, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds. Each cube broadcasts a unique display of frame-by-frame pixel animation. The computer graphics are iced with a candy-core palette to illuminate the darkest of nights.

A bubbling symphony emits from the artwork; comprised of sparkling synths, gently poppin’ beats and treats. This piece of ambient electronic music is designed to lift your spirits! While the soundscape is fully synthesised in medium, elements of the natural world are re-created within the machine. Vibes are deeply inspired by the likes of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Junichi Masuda, C418 and Mkwaju Ensemble.

The mascots of the PCU (Pastel Castle Universe) will make an appearance in their 3D vessels upon the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this Autumn.
