When will Queen Anne depart?

Queen Anne is expected to depart on the evening of Monday 3 June at 10:15pm.

I would like to attend the naming ceremony and/or evening celebrations in Liverpool, will I need a ticket to watch?

The event is free and open to all, and tickets will not be required. Please note, whilst there will be a dedicated viewing area in front of the stage for guests who are travelling on board Queen Anne, the general public can still enjoy the Naming Ceremony from the remainder of the Pier Head.

For the evening celebrations with Craig Charles, the whole of the Pier Head will be open for all to enjoy.

What time will the naming ceremony take place and how long will it be?

The Official Naming of Queen Anne is planned to start at 4pm on Monday 3 June 2024, and will be approximately one hour long finishing at 5pm, at which time there will be an element of street animation to entertain the crowds.

The celebrations will then continue at 8:30pm with special guests on stage, up until Queen Anne’s sail away.

Where is the naming ceremony planned to take place?

The Official Naming of Queen Anne will take place on the Pier Head at Liverpool Waterfront on 3 June 2024.

Please note, whilst there will be a dedicated viewing area in front of the stage for guests who are travelling on board Queen Anne, the general public can still enjoy the Naming Ceremony from the remainder of the Pier Head.

For the evening celebrations with Craig Charles, the whole of the Pier Head will be open for all to enjoy.

Will guests sailing on The British Isles Festival Voyage be able invite friends who have travelled to Liverpool into the dedicated viewing area?

No, the dedicated viewing area is for Cunard guests on board The British Isles Festival Voyage only and is not open to the public.

Who will be performing at the naming ceremony?

Andrea Bocelli, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and local DJ, Lauren Lo Sung will be joining hosts Emma and Matt Willis on stage, with short performances for this unique, one-of-a-kind celebratory performance.

In the evening Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by legendary Liverpudlian DJ Craig Charles on stage, for an unforgettable sailaway party for Queen Anne.

Is there an accessible viewing platform?

Yes, we have two accessible viewing areas on site. Please ask a member of security who will direct you to where you need to go. Places will be allocated on first come first served basis.

Are there any seats?

No, this is a standing event only. Make sure to dress comfortably and for the weather!

Will the naming ceremony be available to watch at home?

No, however we will be sharing the latest updates and content from the naming ceremony across Culture Liverpool’s social media, along with Cunard’s channels so people are able to follow along with the celebrations.

Will members of the public be able to go onboard Queen Anne?

No, access onboard the ship will be for passengers and crew only. However incredible views of the ship whilst berthed at the cruise terminal, are possible from Princes Parade and the Pier Head for members of the public throughout the whole day.

Will there be fireworks at the Queen Anne Naming Ceremony?

Yes, there will be a short firework finale that takes place at 22:15 as we bid farewell to Queen Anne. Anywhere on the Pier Head will offer a good vantage point to watch the fireworks.

Can I bring my drone?

No. Only official drones licenced as part of the event will be allowed.

Will there be official merchandise on sale?

Yes, tourist information will be on site with a range of official Queen Anne Naming Ceremony merchandise from 10am until finish.

Can I buy food and drink on site?

There will be a selection of concessions offering food, drinks and alcoholic beverages on the Pier Head and Princes Parade. Card and cash payments are accepted.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Yes, absolutely. You’re more than welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks which we encourage are carried in recyclable containers.

Are glass bottles allowed?

No glass is permitted on site.

Are there any toilets on site?

Yes, along with accessible portable toilets.

Am I able to bring my dog?

We expect the waterfront area to be busy throughout the day and the evening. Therefore we encourage you not to bring any pets along. Assistance dogs, however, are welcome.

Please note, there will be loud music and flashing lights/fireworks as part of the evening celebrations.

Will there be any road closures in operation?

Yes. To enable the events to take place safely it will be necessary to implement the following road closures which will be supported by LCC Traffic management and traffic management stewards.

08:00 – 20:00: Closure of Canada Boulevard from Water Street to Isle of Mann Gates

Event Day: Monday 3 June

06.30 – 23:00: Princes Parade and St Nicholas Place (Crowne Plaza)

06:00 – 23:00: Water Street, Brunswick Street, Canada Boulevard, Georges Dockway and Mann Island

06:00 – 23:00: Traffic priority system on Georges Dockway

Event De-rig: Tuesday 5 June – Thursday 7 June

08:00 – 20:00: Closure of Canada Boulevard from Water Street to Isle of Mann Gates

 The following arrangements have been put in place to assist:

Mann Island Development – Mann Island will be closed on Monday 3 June. Access will be maintained for residents via Brunswick St and George’s Dock Way.

Port of Liverpool Building – Mann Island will be closed on Monday 3 June. Access will be maintained for residents who park in the front car parking spaces via Brunswick St and George’s Dock Way.

Mersey Ferry Terminal / Matou – Pedestrian access will be maintained, please ensure deliveries are made before 10:00am

Crowne Plaza – Access will be maintained via St Nicholas Place (Crowne Plaza).

 Liver Building Access to car parks will be maintained for regular permit holders but access will be through the road closure, please have your building access pass available in your car.

Cunard Building – Access will be maintained for residents who park in the front car parking spaces via Brunswick St.

We would advise all businesses to arrange deliveries outside the road closure times.

Is parking / blue badge parking available?

Parking in and around the Three Graces will be restricted due to road closures. The designated Blue Badge parking bays will, however, remain unaffected and are accessible on a first come, first served basis.

There are plenty of other car parks in and around the city, some of which you can find here.

As we expect this to be a popular event, we encourage you to use public transport where possible. The nearest train station to the Pier Head is Liverpool James Street. This, however, is scheduled to close at 6.30pm. Thereafter, the nearest train station to the Pier Head will be Moorfields.

What happens if I need medical assistance?

There will be members of staff on site who can offer medical assistance to those should they need it.

What happens if I can't find my child?

The event is a safe, family-friendly site. However, we must be clear, children remain the responsibility of their parents and guardians – please keep an eye on your little ones.

We will be operating a lost child wristband facility, where young children can have a wristband placed on their wrist with the mobile number of the adult accompanying them. This will enable us to quickly contact you should you become separated from your child.
