Pagoda Arts is part of the fabric of Liverpool’s cultural scene, with more than 40 years’ experience of working with the local community to develop and deliver high quality activities, performances which pays tribute to Chinese culture and arts. As the city gears up to enjoy the Lunar New Year celebrations, their Chief Executive Zi Lan Liao, reflects an exciting year ahead.

Lunar New Year celebrations are a time of joy, renewal and cultural celebration, and we’re excited to bring our passion for Chinese music and arts to the forefront once again.

At Pagoda Arts, we are immensely grateful for our longstanding supporter Arts Council England, giving us a solid support to the Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra, the first and largest Chinese Youth Orchestra in Europe. Also the collaboration with Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool, a partnership that has been instrumental in showcasing our cultural heritage and fostering cross-cultural exchange.

Thanks to Culture Liverpool’s belief in our music fusion vision,  it has led to successful projects such as the UK tour and the creation of the award-winning album “Chinese Dub.” These initiatives not only showcase the richness of Chinese culture but also inspire our young musicians to explore and innovate.

Culture Liverpool continues to fund and initiate opportunities for different collaborations, enabling our fusion projects such as Jasmine Flower Dub, Tian Qiyi, and the Imagine Bamboo Ensemble. These collaborations have allowed us to push the boundaries of fusion music and reach younger generations with our vibrant and eclectic sound.

Both the Arts Council England and Culture Liverpool’s unwavering support and recognition of the importance of cultural exchange have been invaluable to us.

Their commitment to fostering collaboration and celebrating diversity aligns perfectly with our mission at Pagoda Arts. Together, we have created unforgettable experiences that showcase the beauty and richness of Chinese culture while promoting understanding and appreciation among diverse audiences.

As we look to the future, we are excited to continue to explore new opportunities for artistic expression and cultural exchange. Together, we will continue to push boundaries, break down barriers, and inspire future generations to embrace the power of music and cultural fusion.

As we prepare for the Chinese New Year celebrations, we’re reminded of the transformative power of cultural exchange and the importance of celebrating diversity. Through our partnership with Culture Liverpool, we aim to continue promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Arts Council England and Culture Liverpool for their ongoing support and recognition of our efforts. Together, we will continue to shine a spotlight on the rich tapestry of cultures that make Liverpool such a vibrant and inclusive city.

Join us in celebrating our triple triumph and the upcoming Year of the Dragon festivities. Together, let’s embrace the spirit of unity, diversity, and cultural exchange that defines our community.
