Bordeaux Wine Festival came to Liverpool’s iconic waterfront as part of #Liverpool2018 in May, and is now up for ‘Best New Event’ at the prestigious National Outdoor Events Association Awards 2018.

The 15th annual Convention and Awards Dinner will be held in Roman Baths and Pump Rooms, Bath on November 21 and Susan Tanner, NOEA’s chief executive, said: “This year saw an increase in detailed entries many deserving to be a finalist. Consequently our judges had a hard job to decide on the three or four shortlisted in each category today.”
Alistair Turner, head judge and managing director of Eight PR & Marketing, said: “The quality of entry was exceptional and the introduction of Best New Event produced some amazing applications. The strength of entries was excellent and seeing some events come back shows commitment to the awards.

“It is a huge achievement for those shortlisted today and we look forward to seeing who is named as winners in November.”

Joining Alistair on the judging panel were Andy McNicholl. City Events Manager for Liverpool Council, and Sally Piggott, Head of Festivals, UK for Eventbrite.

NOEA is the UK’s leading outdoor events trade association fights the events industry’s corner with campaigns ranging from tackling police costs to calling for a ban on Chinese lanterns due to the danger to life, livestock and land.

The 2018 event themed, ‘It Could Never Happen to Me’, will see DS Louise Wilson and DCC Ben-Julian Harrington, from Operation Gothic, address the subject in two of the sessions.

As part of the ‘It Could Never Happen to Me’ theme, A.C.T (National) Ltd will welcome Bev Osborne, Training 4 Resilience, a specialist in training for emergency response at events, to host a workshop style session for delegates.

The speakers will follow on from the keynote address from multiple industry award winner Dick Tee, EnteeTainment, who will share his own experiences of ‘It Could Never Happen to Me’ from across his illustrious career. The convention will also include a number of panel discussions as well as personal experiences from event organisers on ‘It Could Never Happen to Me’.
