Cllr Ron Abbey, bus lead for Liverpool City Region’s Transport Committee which oversees the work of Merseytravel, said:

“People who already use the bus in Liverpool City Region rate it highly with 90 per cent overall customer satisfaction, making it one of the highest performing areas of all those surveyed by independent transport watchdog, Transport Focus. This is great news, but we want to encourage people who don’t catch the bus at all, or only rarely, to give it a go or use it more. We’re using Catch the Bus Week to help showcase the benefits.”

Rob Jones, managing director at Stagecoach Merseyside, Chester and South Lancashire, said:

“Better by Bus and Stagecoach is proud to be supporting the nationwide Catch the Bus Week campaign. We want to encourage people to think differently about how they travel and consider the bus for all types of journeys. With so many benefits to catching the bus, from free Wi-Fi to USB charging, there really has never been a better way to hop aboard.”

Howard Farrall, area managing director – Merseyside at Arriva, said:

“With the summer holidays approaching, and weather improving, we wanted to use Catch the Bus Week to really promote the benefits of bus travel.

“Having an initiative such as the ticket giveaway is a great opportunity to entice the people of Liverpool City Region to give catching the bus a go whether it’s for mixing up your daily commute or taking the little ones on a day out.”
