Set to make August bank holiday weekend one to remember, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool has announced a spectacular programme that will delight visitors of all ages.

From the return of Liverpool’s blue and yellow submarine, complete with DJ sets and deep-sea dancers, to captivating Punch and Judy shows, the dock is the place to be.

From 12pm-7pm on Saturday 26th and 1pm-5pm on Sunday 27th August, the iconic submarine sound station – a continuing statement of Liverpool’s solidarity with Ukraine – is returning to the Martin Luther King Jr Plateau. Creating the ultimate outdoor dance floor in partnership with Kazimier and Invisible Wind Factory, visitors can expect performances from talented musicians, DJs and dancers.

Enjoy everything from African beats to electronic disco from SuRu, perfectly blended beats with a live soundtrack from Rhythm Sport as well as loop-peddle and microphone performances from Motormouf. With WMNKND and Shenice also returning to the decks after unforgettable sets at Pride. Plus, House of Aquatopia will be showcasing their electrifying dance moves, featuring floating jellyfish, dancing crabs and a voguing octopus.

Those looking to entertain their little ones can head to Anchor Courtyard for free puppet performances by Will Cousins. Continuing his run of the pantomime-inspired Punch and Judy shows, join Will and his collection of slap-stick characters on the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of August for rip-roaring laughter, plenty of “it’s-behind-yous” and a tasty string of sausages.

With a long weekend to fill with family fun, budding artists can pick up a sketchbook of art activities with Explore and Draw at Tate Liverpool while Fab Four fans can head to The Beatles Story’s Discovery Zone and get creative with heart-weaving workshops. Plus, uncover Liverpool’s seafaring past with a trip to Maritime Museum and its collection of exhibitions, including Life On Board and Seized! gallery.

For those looking to make the most of their day on Liverpool’s historic waterfront, visit the dock’s selection of bars and restaurants for the ideal al fresco dining spot. From mouth-watering Mexican cuisine in Madre and eclectic menus boasting small plates and light bites in Maray to Spanish-inspired fare in Lunyalita, there’s something for every appetite. Make the most of an extra day off with a sundowner spritz and join Burnt Milk Hotel, The One O’Clock Gun, PANAM, Revolucion de Cuba and more for cocktails guaranteed to tantalise the taste buds.
