Bamboo Dreams

Inspired by the colours and movement of the Newton Show and the idyllic surrounding landscape which lovingly holds its easily forgotten industrial heritage. Bamboo Dreams explores the interplay of the natural curves of the land and nature and the arches and harsh lines of industry.

Butterfly Wings

Commissioned for the Knowsley Flower Show and travelling across the city region, the Butterfly Wings follow a parabolic twist, like a wing in movement. They are made from borinda bamboo harvested by hand from Ness Gardens, and bamboo silk.

In Flight

Inspired by the Butterfly House in Victoria Park, artist Sarah Hayes has created a field of bamboo and willow butterflies on bamboo canes that will turn in the wind.

Windmills

Theatre designer and puppet maker, Alex Herring, is making a field of windmills on sticks inspired by the beautiful windy setting of Wirral Country Park. Expect to see approx. 30 large windmills to be part of this installation!

Under the Microscope (The Pod) & Bamboo Bends

Both artists are working with community groups, Walton Youth and The Greenhouse Project, to create a field of hexagon shapes on bamboo vertical canes using a design created by Faith which innovatively repurposes milk bottle plastic!

Under the Sea

Blacksmith and sculptor, Julian Taylor will bring the sea closer to us with his wave machine installation. Visitors to the Sefton event can experience themselves to be, playfully, in the waves.
