The film festival “OUR LAND” is aimed at giving visitors the opportunity to experience and understand Ukrainian culture and history and to learn about ordinary and famous people in Ukraine through the creative skills of Ukrainian cinematographers.

A selection of feature films and documentary short films of the “Culture VS War” project will lead the viewer through the times and events of the turning points in the history of Ukraine, reveal true human qualities and values, and showcase famous Ukrainian cultural figures—writers, cinematographers, musicians, and photographers. Serhiy Zhadan, Liberov’s photographers, and the music band “Antytila” will give you a transparent view of the war through their own stories. Despite everything, by continuing to face external threats, Ukraine demonstrates the strength and determination of its people, who remain loyal to their independence and their land.

During the event, there was a photo exhibition of famous war photographers “Wounded Land,” an exhibition of the cultural history of Ukraine, and a photo exhibition of the British photographer “The Displaced. Ukrainian women of Liverpool”. Online meetings with the heroes of the novels, intense discussions, the presentation of the art book of the “Culture VS War” project, and the sale of books with the autographs of the authors and authentic Ukrainian delicacies will be provided.

The film screening will be in Ukrainian with English subtitles.

The Ukrainian film festival is organised by the Liverpool Branch Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (Liudmyla Sergiienko) together with the Ukrainian HUB Preston and with the support of Liverpool Hope University as well as the “Look Ukrainian” Association.
Yuliia Ivanova is the project manager.
