Rob Edmondson presents realistic countryside scenes of flowing rivers, shaded forests, boatyards, and fields of barley.
“My work is landscape based. I revel in the physical manipulation of the paint and experimenting with unusual techniques to gain evocative effects. Implicit in each painting is the use of light, colour, depth and movement.
Much of my work is based on the landscape of the North of England although I always produce artwork based on my travels around the world.
My paintings are representational. Through visual devices I hope to capture the soul, in essence the mood of each special, secret place.
I have taught art for a very long time to secondary school pupils, college students and adults. I have produced my own silk screen work and ceramics. However, acrylic has been my medium of choice for many years now.
This quote from Roald Dahl, could summarise my approach to art, “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
