The Black-E has a whole week of fun planned for the 2023 Luna New Year and everyone is invited to join them!
| Mon 16 Jan | 4.30pm – 6.30pm | Textiles, arts and crafts workshop with a very talented Zena – creating rabbit masks, Chinese fans and lots more with beautiful traditional materials. |
| Tue 17 Jan | 4:00pm – 6:00pm | Children’s circus workshop. |
| Thur 19 Jan | 6:00pm – 8:00pm | Drumming workshop with Curtis Watt. Join in with the drumming orchestra and learn some new skills to show off for the Chinese Luna Year. |
| Fri 20 Jan | 6:00pm – 7:30pm | Movema Chinese New Year dance workshop for all ages. There will be dancing, crafts and lots of fun had by all. |
| Sun 22 Jan | 11:00am | Dragon dance to kick off the day, starting on the steps of the Black-E before it snakes through town. |
| 11:15am | The Black-E doors open to the community. Enjoy a drumming performance while you warm up, grab a drink and wait for more entertainment. | |
| 11:30am – 12:00pm | Fallen angels dance performance. | |
| 12:00pm – 12:30pm | A performance from the Black-E’s very own Tai Chi masters. | |
| 12:30pm – 14:45pm | Movema Dance Performance. | |
| 12:45pm – 1:25pm | Movema Community Workshop. | |
| 12:45pm – 1:45pm | Tai Chi – Performance 2. | |
| 1:45pm – 2:15pm | Fear the mighty Chinese dragon and his lions. Experience a legendary display as they return to the Black-E, to perform on the main stage for a performance you’ll never forget. | |
| 2:15pm – 2:45pm | Flow Project performance. | |
| 2:45pm – 3:15pm | Tai Chi – Performance 3. | |
| 3:15pm – 3:45pm | Circus Community Performance. | |

There will also be a free textiles and craft workshop with Zena from 12:00pm until 5:00pm, as well as food and drinks available to purchase at the bar all day!
The main entrance is on the corner of Nelson Street, with an accessible entrance on Sankey Street. There will be a £2 fee on the door for adults and kids are FREE!
