In July 2019, sixteen teams from across the world competed in Liverpool for netball’s ultimate prize. The teams were selected through both International Netball Federation (INF) world rankings and regional qualifying tournaments to compete for the acclaimed title.

As the host nation of the event, England automatically qualified for the tournament, along with the top five ranked teams; Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, South Africa, and Malawi. These six teams were joined in Liverpool by Northern Ireland, Scotland, Fiji, Samoa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Sri Lanka and Singapore, all of whom qualified through their respective Regional Qualifier events in 2018.

There were 60 matches played in Liverpool throughout the 10-day tournament and here at Culture Liverpool we are proud to have worked with the team to not only produce the official opening and closing ceremonies but also run the official fan park.

Case Study

Following on from the event, the ACC Group have produced a written case study on the impact of the event which can be found here and which has been featured in Stand Out Magazine (p89) and is detailed on the M&S Bank Arena website.
