In Shy Radicals: The Antisystemic Politics Of The Militant Introvert Hamja Ahsan has written a call to arms for the politically motivated introvert to quietly challenge extrovert-supremacist politics and assertiveness culture of the twenty first century while making real political change. Joe Moran in his social-cultural history Shrinking Violets charts shyness from antiquity to the present day and explores the different ways in which writers, scientists, artists and thinkers have tried to explain, ‘cure’ and occasionally celebrate it.

He is a campaigner for prisoners, human rights and civil liberties under the War on Terror, and was shortlisted for the Liberty Human Rights awards for the Free Talha Ahsan campaign. He has presented art projects at Tate Modern, Gwangju Biennale, Shaanakht festival Pakistan and Shlipa Academy, Bangladesh.
