Organised by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), the Chinese New Year Gala is one of the most influential student-led galas in the UK. This year, it will be taking place online on the 27th of January. The live stream is available on 12 video platforms globally, including YouTube, and available to over 22,000 Chinese students in the UK as well as anyone interested in China and Chinese culture.
The CSSA Chinese New Year Gala is a great reunion bringing Chinese students and scholars in the UK together every year, demonstrating their talents and charms, while serving as a platform for cultural exchanges between both countries. The gala spreads the love and affection for family, friends and hometowns.
This year, the gala heralds the Year of the Tiger. The theme of the gala is ‘Hand in Hand, Embracing a New Spring‘. Though the COVID-19 is constantly resurging, all students and scholars in the UK have always stood together to combat it, bringing extreme warmth to everyone.
The gala is devoted to three chapters: commitment, partnership and shared future. The Commitment chapter represents Chinese students’ commitment to growth. The chapter will include opening shows and shows about dreams. The Partnership Chapter, on the other hand, represents the partnership between China and the UK. This chapter aims to demonstrate both Chinese and British cultures, embracing cultural diversity. What’s more, the Shared Future chapter is dedicated to presenting our wish of creating a brighter future together with the world, where Olympic-themed shows will be presented.
