Mersey Ferries announces a special viewing cruise that will sail alongside the world’s largest fleet of 70-foot racing yachts.

The viewing cruise will include live music from The Liverpool Shanty Kings and commentary about the World Yacht Race, which has lasted 11-months and covered a 44,000-nautical mile circumnavigation of the globe.

Eleven Clipper vessels are set to sail back into Liverpool on Saturday, July 28 with a thrilling sprint finish expected to decide the winner of one of the world’s most challenging endurance races.

And Mersey Ferry passengers are being given the chance to get up close to the final leg of the race, on the River Mersey in front of the Royal Albert Dock.

The exclusive Mersey Ferries viewing cruise will sail alongside the 70-foot racing yachts and give passengers a unique opportunity to view the parade of sail as the yachts return from an 11-month, 44,000-nautical trip around the world to cross the finish line.

A licensed bar and light snacks will be available to buy on board the ferry, as passengers enjoy the three-hour cruise to celebrate the occasion.

It brought together amazing sailors , marine enthusiasts and the general public for a momentous occasion, which we’re sure will be recreated on the return of the vessels in July.

“We’re really pleased that the Mersey Ferries are involved in such an iconic event and our viewing cruise will allow passengers the chance to get up close to the vessels and feel like they’re part of the exciting conclusion to one of the world’s toughest endurance races.”

“We wish all the teams the best of luck as they approach the final. We look forward to being there on the day to cheer them home.”
