Those looking to catch the last of the summer evenings and see Liverpool’s historical waterfront from the River Mersey, now have an extra two chances to do so.

Following a sell out run, Merseytravel has announced two additional sailings which will be added to its popular Summer Evening Cruise programme in September.

The last sailing was scheduled for the end of August, but now passengers will have extra chances to see a different side of Liverpool’s Unesco World Heritage waterfront, as they take in the views from a vantage point on the water as the sun sets.

All this can be enjoyed with a drink and hot and cold food from the ferry’s fully licensed bar, plus live background music performed by local musicians, making it the perfect way to relax and enjoy the last of Liverpool’s summer evenings.

Tickets are now on sale for the sailings on Thursday 8th and Sunday 11th September.

Gary Evans, Head of Service at Merseytravel said: “Its great to see that our Summer Evening Cruises have once again proven popular with both residents and tourists. Thanks to customer demand and a sell out sailings calendar, we decided to add an extra two sailings.

“Whether you are visiting Liverpool for a few days, are new to the city or have lived here all your life, the evening cruises offer a new way to see Liverpool’s most stunning views and architecture, with fabulous entertainment to make this a trip with a difference.

“It’s the perfect way to spend a leisurely summer evening, with family, friends or work colleagues.”

Liverpool’s waterfront boasts a unique range of culture, history and heritage. The UNESCO World Heritage site is a major tourism draw and contributes highly to the overall visitor economy, which is worth in excess of £3.6 billion and attracts more than 59 million visitors a year.

Chris Brown, Director of Marketing Liverpool, says: “The Summer Evening Cruises are a fantastic opportunity for everybody to experience the UNESCO World Heritage waterfront, which we are lucky to have right on our doorstep.

“Liverpool is currently the UK’s fifth most popular visitor destination for overseas visitors and our world famous waterfront continues to attract visitors from far and wide – the evening cruises will be great addition to our incredible offer.

“Visitors will get to cruise past the Albert Dock, something that has been a part of the city’s landscape for over 160 years; as well as set off from one of the only cruise ports in the world that is right in the heart of the city centre.”

Boarding at Seacombe, Wirral at 7.30pm and Pier Head, Liverpool at 7.40pm, cruises last approximately 2 hours.

Tickets cost £13.95 and can be bought online at www.merseyferries.co.uk/summercruise, by calling the ticket office on 0151 330 1444, or by visiting any one of Merseytravel’s terminals.
