Tidal Shame

Tidal Shame, by Yorkshire based artist Gail Dooley depicts a ceramic gannet, a seabird common in Liverpool, entangled by authentic sea plastic and detritus collected on beach shores across Merseyside and the UK. The sculpture highlights the danger to marine wildlife of the waste that accumulates in UK waters year on year.

The work will be in available for all to view over the next 12 months and can be found on The Liverpool Plinth on Chapel Street, overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront as a reminder of the impact of waste on wildlife.

The Liverpool Plinth is a public art partnership between the Liverpool BID Company, dot-art and the Liverpool Parish Church. Tidal Shame is the third sculpture to be installed onto the Plinth, helping to enrich public spaces within Liverpool’s Commercial District.
