Inspired by Movema artists’ experiences of migration and informed by refugee and asylum seeker communities, ‘Taking Flight – Feng Huang (Chinese Phoenix)’ explores birds’ and humans’ desire for freedom and flight and the role of modern aeronautics to enable this.
Originally commissioned by Dance Consortia Northwest, Spare Parts and Now Northwich festivals and funded by Arts Council England. The Commission included R&D, costume design and creation, music production and dramaturg.
The piece is visually stunning and Feng Huang represents peace and harmony in Chinese culture which will be a great celebration for the year coming 2022.
