The River of Light Trail October 2021 aims to be an inclusive, diverse and accessible event for Liverpool.

TOILETS AND CHANGING

SEATING
- Public benches and seats are available around the River of Light route. There are also many cafes and restaurants along the route for breaks and refreshments.
RIVER OF LIGHT EVENT SITE
- The event site is across the Liverpool waterfront and city centre retail and business districts. There are parts where the route is fully pedestrianised with dropped curbs and elevators, but some installations are on cobbles or gravel due to the heritage of the locations.
- At times the ground may be uneven, especially in bad weather conditions or when it becomes slippy.
- The route is approximately 2km long.
- There is no entrance or exit, start or finish to the route. Please take your time to enjoy the installations and return another time should you need to.
TRAVEL AND PARKING
People attending the River of Light event can do so in a variety of ways.
PARKING
- Blue Badge Parking sites at Brunswick Street, Water Street, Chapel Street and St Nicholas Place. Visit Blue Badge spaces – Liverpool City Council

TRAVEL
- Nearest bus stops at Liverpool ONE Bus Station, The Strand, Dale Street, Water Street, and James Street – please visit the Merseytravel website for further details on public transport.

SPECIAL EFFECTS

- A quieter route which avoids the sometimes congested bridge is from Museum of Liverpool to the Albert Dock is via Mann Island onto The Strand.

- Food and drinks are available to buy at Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool ONE, Castle Street and surrounding areas.

We always advise customers to consider the weather on the day of the festival. If it is raining or windy, there are limited spaces of shelter at some of the installations. The trail is on for 17 days so you have time to visit on several occasions.
Comfortable footwear, and warm and waterproof clothing!
