From the team that brought The Wonderful World of Oliver Jeffers to the city earlier this year, The Reader’s Storybarn at Calderstones, in partnership with Discover Children’s Story Centre, are set to bring Michael Rosen’s fully-immersive family experience Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake & Bad Things to the heart of Liverpool ONE in early 2017.

michael-rosen-3From Saturday 28 January to Sunday 23 April, and supported by Radio City, this interactive exhibition explores the fantastic stories and poems of former Children’s Laureate and best-selling author Michael Rosen, bringing some of the nation’s favourite stories to life.

Families can step inside a huge Chocolate Cake, swishy swashy through the Bear Hunt trail and bravely explore the Bad Things and Uncle Gobb’s Dread Shed. Step into the mind of the writer to discover hidden rooms and clues that reveal the inspiration behind Rosen’s most beloved books and poems.

Dr. Jane Davis, The Reader’s founder and director said “The Reader is thrilled to be bringing Michael Rosen’s interactive family experience to Liverpool One next year. We’re excited about taking The Storybarn experience into the heart of the City. I can’t wait to see families from across Merseyside hunting bears on their own literary adventures.”

At the opening of the experience at Discover Children’s Story Centre in London, award-winning author Michael Rosen said: “This exhibition is one of the most exciting things to have happened in my writing career. Just as exciting for me, as someone who works with children and students, is the idea that this exhibition will act as a springboard for children, teachers and parents to talk together about things that they remember or think up, and this, I hope, will turn into writing and performing new poems and stories. I am so looking forward to it.”
