City partners, sponsors, local businesses and Mayoral 100 Club Members, including Liverpool Waters, Albert Dock, and Weightmans enjoyed an evening of #Liverpool2018 tasters, as the city’s events programme came alive, teasing what is to come throughout the year. Entertainment included performances and experiential flavours of China Dream, Smash the Keys, Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta and Bordeaux Wine Festival.

The Mayoral 100 Club was set up in 2014 by Mayor Joe Anderson, OBE, to forge local, national and international relationships between Liverpool’s stakeholders, Northern Powerhouse businesses and organisations. A key aim for the Club is to collectively drive forward the cultural agenda of the city through collaboration and opening opportunities for businesses across the city region, North West and beyond.

“Working with a varied network of businesses is integral to helping us deliver a world-class events programme. The continued support from the Mayoral 100 Club Members help us drive forward the cultural agenda for the city – not only for this year’s Liverpool 2018 programme which celebrates the success 2008, but also their support means we can look to the future with our ambition to remain a centre for excellence, ensuring culture and creativity remain at the heart of our city.”

The evening focused on raising awareness and funds for The Mayoral 100 Club’s chosen charity of the year, Chasing the Stigma, which exists to destigmatise mental health illness. Collaborating with creative designers, Mashbo, the charity has developed the UK’s first app which uses a device’s location to direct people to the nearest mental health related help and support available in their area. The app, Hub of Hope, is continuing to gain a lot of media traction and is being accessed by people across the world – regardless of age, location or background.

Jake Mills, CEO of Chasing the Stigma, who has previously struggled with his mental health, said: “We are very honoured to be chosen as the official charity for the Mayoral 100 Club. This is a huge opportunity for us to grow and develop as a charity but, more importantly, it is a fantastic opportunity for us to put mental health on the agenda, particularly with business leaders. We look forward to be able to speak to them about the importance of mental wellbeing in the workplace for everyone.”

“Chasing the Stigma has been publicly commended by NHS trusts, mental health charities, politicians and celebrities alike. The Mayoral 100 club is proud to have Chasing the Stigma on board as its official charity of the year.”

– Alissa Koopal, Project Manager of Mayoral 100 Club.

Raffle and auction donations were greatly received from Mayoral 100 Club Members, such as; A&B Engineering, Heritage GB, Liverpool ONE, The Know Collection, BAC Mono and Titanic Hotel. Local organisations and fashion designers also gifted prizes to raise money too, including; Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs and Gary McQueen, nephew of the late Alexander McQueen.

As Ambassador of Chasing the Stigma, Gary McQueen said: “I am very privileged to be an ambassador for Chasing the Stigma. The work they do to humanise mental health and make help as easy as possible to find is invaluable. I was more than happy to provide an item to auction, and I hope that it will help raise vital funds that will help them continue their fantastic work.”

The annual event also of course offers an opportunity for Mayoral 100 Club Members to win spectacular sponsorship rights to some of the city’s key calendar events. Later this year, the waterfront will welcome back River of Light, of which Mashbo, a local award-winning digital agency, will be the official presenting partner, and celebrity management agency Bold Management, as supporting partner. As well as this, Fazenda will bring its unique rodizo experience to this year’s Three festivals Tall Ships Regatta as official presenting partner.

“The tombola sponsorship opportunity is something I am immensely proud of. It enables the Mayoral 100 Club initiative to give something back to its members, who are all supportive of, and passionate about, the cultural agenda of this great city. The partnership status offers up a range of commercial and branding opportunities, including marketing, onsite activity and digital campaigns. It truly is a fantastic incentive, giving these members exclusive access to over 1 million visitors who will experience our enviable cultural programme.”
