“Respect”, an Ethical Fashion Show and Black History Month celebration
Not Paris, Not London, But, Liverpool’s Ethical Fashion Show.
BME (Black Minority Ethnicity) local designers have set the trend in sustainable, environmental, and accessible fashion by paying equal wages, using pure fabrics and ethically sourced materials – for decades! Our designers will premiere their latest creations at “Respect”, an Ethical Fashion Show and Black History Month celebration, at Blackburne House, Liverpool on Sunday 21 October 1-4pm.
A tribute to #Vote100 year, and humble nod to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, we celebrate black women’s creativity and beauty through fashion, arts, music, and poetry.
‘Respect’, an unconventional catwalk show, promotes the concept of Ethical Fashion to raise awareness within the fashion industry, and be part of a positive change socially and economically. The beautiful and innovative work of our featured fashion designers promote an ethical and sustainable approach to fashion and style using natural, recycled, up-cycled materials while promoting natural beauty, positive body image, and self-empowerment.
Blackburne House has been supporting and acknowledging women for over three decades, and this year, Vote 100 anniversary is the occasion and the opportunity to highlight and honour black women’s contribution in the fight for equal rights and justice for everyone.
Discover the amazing work of female fashion designers and artists: Liverpool based, Zena Clarkson and Jennifer Reid, with special guests including Fée Uhssi, a London-based ethical fashion designer, along with her Art of Fashion Wrapping collection, and Kati Ertel from the Bolono Mali charity project, to name a few…
With a line up of inspiring performances, including music, poetry, spoken words, dance, and fashion art, “Respect” will take you on a colourful journey, illustrating positive change in the creative industries, honouring women who are now following their path, working to inspire younger generations for years to come.
An event not to be missed.
