The whole family, from young children to parents and grandparents, are invited to come and immerse themselves in a range of fun activities at the free Heritage on the Dock event during the Easter school holidays (April 5-8) – celebrating 172 years of Albert Dock history and heritage.
Keep discovering and exploring this iconic attraction with four days of walks, talks, live music, song and entertainment over the Easter break. Children can even go in search of the “Dock Ness Monster”! Join Lancashire Wildlife Trust to see what lies beneath the waters of the Dock and with your “Dock Safari” guide look for eels, jellyfish, crabs and more – and then enjoy the experience of using an aquascope for amazing underwater views.
Embark on one of several fascinating guided walks under the expert guidance of the Blue Badge Guides and Liverpool City Walks, RIBA and Tate Liverpool. Walks are not confined to just Albert Dock either, and will take intrepid explorers further afield, including along the Liverpool Waters central docks, up to Stanley Dock, the Anglican Cathedral and Liverpool Parish Church. Some elements of the tours will even give the public behind-the-scenes access to areas usually off limits!
Back at the Dock, Merseyside Maritime Museum will be hosting fun workshops and storytelling get-togethers for the kids based around the legend of the ill-fated Titanic, while children can embrace Victorian culture at the Museum of Liverpool at the Pier Head, with craft and hands-on sessions devoted to this iconic period in history.
While on your travels, make sure to look out for Typhoon & The Pedal Players, a steam-powered time machine, currently stuck in a time continuum, and needing your help to make it back to present day! Hear their hidden stories, myths and legends of Albert Dock through captivating performance, music and song.

Other highlights of the event include an architectural tour of Tate Liverpool, a Chinese tea tasting experience with tea expert Alison Appleton – a nod to the Dock’s trading past – and boat tours of our historic docklands aboard the Floating Grace.
