dot-art’s first release of online classes covers a range of exciting art forms, and they have plenty more for you to get involved with over the coming weeks.

All dot-art’s online courses are led by a talented team of artist tutors, who have been working hard from their homes to turn their teaching expertise digital. The team are sure you will be just as delighted by the results as they are! Some classes will be delivered live and some pre-recorded, but all will be released regularly online, and available to go back and watch at your leisure for 12 weeks. With each session, you will receive a course handout to download and keep. The handouts detail what that session has covered so all the information is there to refer back to at any time. You will also be invited to join a closed Facebook group where you can get 1-2-1 feedback from your tutor, chat with other participants and ask questions at any time.

dot-art have launched with four courses in a range of subjects but will be releasing more in the coming weeks, including Abstract Art, Still Life and Cartooning. The team will also be repeating courses, so don’t worry, you can always book onto the next one!

Beginners Digital Photography – Led by professional photographer Mark Reeves, this six session course is designed for those who would like to move from being a keen beginner to a skilled intermediate photographer. Delivered via two-way video, this course will be taught LIVE during six one-hour sessions spread over two weeks. To get the most from this course you will need your own digital camera which allows you to manually control aperture, shutter speed, ISO (sensitivity) and focus

Introduction to Lino Cut – Explore and investigate the creative and rewarding artistic skills of lino cutting with artist and experienced teacher Catherine Carmyllie. This short two-week course will introduce you to the materials and tools of lino cutting before moving onto creating, cutting and printing your own design. You can even order your very own Lino Kit put together by Catherine so everything you need can be delivered safely to you at home.

Drawing Techniques – Get to grips with a variety of drawing techniques with professional artist Sarah Jane Richards. This four week drawing course is designed for beginners and those looking for inspiration in their drawing practice. Over the course you will learn and develop observational and expressive drawing techniques to create your own unique drawing style.

Introduction to Adobe Lightroom – Mark Reeves will be teaching photography lovers how to navigate Adobe Lightroom via two-way video course over two, intensive half-day sessions. If you already have Adobe Lightroom, this course will get you off to a flying start using the Library and Develop modules. If you’re a complete beginner this course will give you an in-depth overview of what an invaluable application it is.

More from dot-art…

In addition to this, dot-art are planning a new, online Teachers Corner exhibition to acknowledge and celebrate the fact that many teachers are also artists and give their students the chance to appreciate that. We think it particularly important to give teachers a platform just for themselves at this difficult time. Any teacher, from any school, can submit work here – and it can be work that you have created previously, as we know you have your hands a bit full at the moment!

And if all of the above wasn’t enough, the team have also released a blog on how to get creative at home – head here for your Creative Isolation inspiration.

Finally, the team also sell affordable, locally sourced, original and limited edition art online, here: dot-art.co.uk/shop/ AND dot-art.co.uk/view-by-artist/.

To make this easier, dot-art have introduced VIDEO VIEWINGS. The team understands that it’s not the same seeing a piece of art online as in real life, so if you email a shortlist of pieces you are interested in to [email protected] they will create a series of short videos featuring each of the artworks you are interested in, including from different angles, close ups to show details and context to show size. You may even get a personal message from the artist!
