Liverpool’s established Pirates On The Dock Festival annually attracts over 50,000 people. It celebrates the history and spirit of adventure of the original Liverpool Privateers. The festival features live pirate ship battles, mermaids, parades, music, dance and themed children’s entertainment.  Hosted at the North West’s busiest tourist attraction Albert Dock, with both indoor and outdoor performance spaces available.

Over it’s history, Liverpool’s waterfront has been the start of many hazardous and daring adventures and the homecoming scene of eventual triumph.  Visitors really embrace the atmosphere of adventure, with many dressing up and joining the parade.

In 2017 the Festival will be increasing its content of immersive theatre and widening its theme to include adventurers and immersive theatre of all types.

Submissions should present creative performance ideas that:

  • Fit the overall festival theme of “adventure”:

An adventure is an exciting or unusual experience. It may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.”

  • Must be suitable for a family audience.
  • Explore site specific and immersive staging techniques utilizing the unique location of Albert Dock and its attractions.
  • Can be either new work or adapted existing work.
  • Can be either small intimate works through to large visual spectaculars.
  • Include submissions from all arts organisations and independent artists. We are particularly interested in supporting local arts organisations and community groups. However a great idea is a great idea.
  • Must be available to perform on both the 16th and 17th of September 2017
  • Where possible, the submissions should show a knowledge of the venue.

The deadline for submissions is 6th March 2017 by email to [email protected]

A guided site tour of Albert Dock for interested participants will take place on Thursday 23rd February at 2.00pm.

“Fit The Bill – producing entertainment that brings joy to its audience, its creators and its investors.”
