Migration children and young people dance film
This children’s and young people’s project, forms part of Movema’s ‘Unlock the Box’ programme, and has been funded by Children in Need.
During the 2020 winter lockdown, Movema reached out to different young people around Liverpool to provide online and live dance sessions for 8 weeks. Participants explored the themes of migration, human relationship with technology, citizenship and belonging and created their own dance video, filmed on location in Liverpool.
The bird costumes were created by The Lantern Company and were inspired by the Phoenix, Peacock, Sankofa Bird, Liver Bird and by humans’ desire for freedom and flight and the role of modern aeronautics to enable us to do this.
