SHANE MACGOWAN TO JOIN LINE-UP FOR FIRST LIVERPOOL FEIS 2018
Vince Power has announced Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan will be the latest addition to the incredible line-up for the first ever Liverpool Feis music festival this summer.
The announcement came at the launch of the Liverpool Feis at the British Music Experience today with Power joined by City Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Ambassador of Ireland to the United Kingdom Adrian O’Neill and Director of Culture Claire McColgan.
Power, founder of the world renowned Fleadh festival, added MacGowan to the biggest names in traditional and contemporary Irish music alongside Van Morrison, Imelda May, Damien Dempsey, Finbar Furey, The Chieftains, The Dubliners, Foy Vance, The Coronas, Therapy? Hothouse Flowers, Nathan Carter, Aslan, Mary Coughlan and many more.
MacGowan, who formed seminal punk band The Pogues in 1982, enjoyed a star-studded 60th birthday party in January this year with performances from Nick Cave, Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Glen Hansard and Johnny Depp. Inspired by this experience MacGowan will join the Feis All Star Revue alongside Imelda may, Finbar Furey, Sharon Shannon, Damien Dempsey and other special guests.
Power said, “It’s an honour to include Shane in the line-up, he’s an incredible part of Irish musical history and I’m delighted he can be part of the first Liverpool Feis.”
