Garance Alves was born in France in 1993. In 2015 she obtained a Bachelor’s degree cum laude at École Supérieure d’Art de Clermont Métropole in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Later in 2017, she gained a Masters in Drawing with honours at École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels, Belgium. The main subject of her work is the concept of second skin, where she is interested in all objects relating to the body, such as fabric and garments. She considers the latter elements vehicles for fragments of stories. Over the past few years she has participated in several collective exhibitions in France and all over Europe including Contrepoint, Galerie Plagiarama, Brussels, Belgium (2018); Les Recombinants, Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain de Marseille, France (2017); Callirohé et Diboutadès, La Vallée, Brussels, Belgium (2017) and Nu, Courtesy of Frédéric de Goldschmidt, Brussels, Belgium (2017). More recently, she has joined the artistic network of CreArt and has won an award for her video Fragments from the Festival Nos Yeux Grands Ouverts, Centre Artasia, Paris, France (2017).
