Celebrate Lunar New Year at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool.

Welcome the Year of the Snake at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool with a weekend of exciting activities.

On Saturday 1 February (12pm – 4pm) and Sunday 2 February (11am – 5pm), enjoy free art workshops in Anchor Courtyard, perfect for the whole family. Get creative, take part in hands-on activities and take home your very own Chinese New Year creations.

Spiral Snakes with Ali Harwood

Make your own spiral snake inspired by traditions of Lunar New Year and the heritage of Liverpool’s Chinatown. Cut, colour and stick decorations onto your snake which will swirl and twirl as you take away!

Chinese New Year Arts and Crafts with Complex Simplicity

Create hand-held pleated fans with decorations inspired by traditions and colours relevant to Lunar New Year, featuring handwriting inspired by Chinese arts, Liverpool’s Chinese community and the Year of the Snake. You can also have a go at jewellery decoration by designing your own beads for bracelets and necklaces.

Freestanding Snakes with Stu Harrison

Make your own freestanding snake which can be displayed using string. Decorate your snake to represent shiny scales and colour to create your own unique snake. Suitable for younger ages!

And while you’re visiting, don’t miss the new art installation by Design Laser Play. The hearts at Royal Albert Dock have been reimagined to celebrate the Year of the Snake and can be found at the entrance to Anchor Courtyard. Visitors are invited to photograph memories of their day in front of this installation. Share your photos using the hashtag #LNYLiverpool —we’d love to see your memories!
