At the height of theatrical activity in the 1800s, Liverpool was home to 40 theatres. You Stop. They Win uncovers the tales of the incredible, pioneering characters that created and ran those theatres.
Directed by Matt Wilde, this piece of verbatim theatre draws on first-hand accounts and archive material from various Liverpool library and university sources to bring to life the stories of radicalism and resistance.
In doing so, You Stop. They Win will demonstrate the importance of regional theatre to the communities it represents and why, during these uncertain times, it should be a force for radical social expression once more.
