WoW’s next Writer on the Bloc for the month of November will be the award-winning writer Luke Barnes!

Writing for both screen and stage, Luke is most renowned for his poignant play Bottleneck, a piece depicting the collective trauma of the Hillsborough disaster, which achieved UK-wide success and earned him runner-up for Off West End Awards for Most Promising Playwright and the Off West End Best New Play award. Luke is also the winner of the Scotsman Emerging Talent award, and his work has achieved critical acclaim from the public and critics alike.

Luke’s other theatre credits include Freedom Project (Leeds Playhouse), The Jumper Factory (The Young Vic Theatre), The Sad Club (National Theatre) and All We Ever Wanted Was Everything (The Bush Theatre/ Paines Plough Roundabout). His residency will focus on writing for theatre, bringing his playwrighting skills and experience to writers everywhere.

Throughout the first three weeks of Novemeber, Luke will lead an exiciting programme of events, including Workshops on ‘Taking Your Ideas Further: Getting Started in the Process of Playwrighting’ and ‘Story Structure’, where you can take part in some writing exercises and get inspired.
