This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, the phenomenon that saw 100,000 musicians, artists and hippies flock to San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury district.

To celebrate, we’re bringing in three Volkswagen Beetles across August to be painted by professional artists, using the Summer of Love as their inspiration. Each car will be completed in just one day on the following days, times and locations:

  • Saturday 12 August, 10am-4pm  – Thomas Steers Way

Kieran Gorman from Zap Graffiti takes inspiration from a psychedelic Summer of Love to transform this VW Beetle.

  • Saturday 19 August, 9am-6pm  – Paradise Street

A tribute to The Beatles’ album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band designed and painted by Krishna Malla.

  • Saturday 26 August, 10am-6pm,  – Paradise Street

Created by artist Krishna Malla following a vote for the public’s favourite song from 1967.
