We’re proud to announce this year’s Liverpool MakeFest will take place at Liverpool Central Library on Saturday 30 June 2018, our fourth celebration of maker culture. Spanning the entirety of the library, it’s open the whole day and completely free to attend! See dozens of displays, workshops and free activities for all ages, abilities and needs.

Liverpool MakeFest – Free, family-friendly and most of all FUN!

There’s something for everyone!

The library will be crammed with makers showing off the things they’ve made but also sharing how they do it. You can have a go yourself through workshops and games, and we do hope you will. Come get involved with rockets, coding, drones, 3D printing, astronomy, motion capture, stained glass, biohacking, book art, upcycling, cosplay, little robots, big robots, rope making, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and physical computing, workshops, maker schools, inventions, hack spaces and makerspaces, face painting, fabrics, soft circuits, painting, community engagement, award winning projects, demonstrations, glass blowing, drilling, radio telescopes, treasure hunts, food tech, prosthetics, games, sound and music, jewellery, photography, placard making, laser cutting, virtual reality, woodwork, solar telescopes, NERFTM darts, lace making, press printing, conference talks, and a £500 award!

There’ll be more details on the finer points of some of these things on our blog very soon, like that £500! But in the meantime be sure to check out this years makers .

Liverpool Makefest Fortnight

And that’s not all, to make a MakeFest-Sandwich you need something before the big day on June 30th, and then something after. We’ve got you covered with not just one but two more sister events.

Organised by the festival founders, raising the maker-spirits of Liverpool and aimed at families on Saturday 24th June there will be a Digital Horse Parade! Followed by a performance from Professor Elemental at our venue’s Discover Library!

The parade will be built from music, craft and coding workshops at upcoming Hack to Hack; Cargo to Coding events in the city. There’ll be more details on these events next month. Educators keen to champion a culture of making in their practice should check out an upcoming conference “MakerNoiseUK” which takes place on Saturday 7th july at Edge Hill University.
