Liverpool Comedy Festival 2017 (Sep 15 – Oct 1)
Liverpool Comedy Festival is back for its’ 16th consecutive year with a jam-packed delivery of giggles and guffaws right across the city. This year sees the biggest selection of headliners the festival has ever seen, and the most shows (150 shows across 18 venues) since it began in 2002. The Comedy Trust (the brains behind the Festival) are also celebrating their 15th year of creating happier, healthier people across the UK.
Headliners include Daily Telegraph’s ‘man of the moment’ Micky Flanagan (19 – 20 Sep), Welsh wonder Rob Brydon (29 Sep), star of Cuckoo and The Inbetweeners Greg Davies (25 – 26 Sep), Mock The Week’s king of the one-liners Milton Jones (1 Oct), intellectual prankster Joe Lycett (17 – 18 Sep), brains behind the multi-award winning Gein’s Family Giftshop Kiri Pritchard-Mclean (17 – 18 Sep) , comedian, magician and all around scary man Jerry Sadowitz (5 Oct) and Winners of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, Musical Comedy Awards Abandoman (27 Sep).
Our stellar headliners will be accompanied by a plethora of national and local comedic talent such as Liverpool legend Stan Boardman (29 Sep), rising star Adam Rowe, Twitter pseudo-celebrity Ant Campbell, and Wirral wunderkind Callum Oakley.
This year the Festival has teamed up with the talent behind Hot Water Comedy Club who have programmed over 70 shows during the festival featuring headliners, TV names, comedy battles, Gong Shows and new act nights in their brand new purpose built comedy club on Seel Street.
LCF are joining forces with On The Verge, a festival dedicated to supporting artists and showcasing provocative new work, to co-mentor and programme Steffi Sweeney’s Karaoke Tales (27 Sep) which will take the audience inside a booze-fragranced karaoke bar for a night of stories, songs and questionable vocals.
The Comedy Trust will also be teaming up with the Liverpool Mental Health Festival on the 1st of October for a second year running with their “Still Feeling Funny Show”. The event will showcase The Comedy Trust’s latest alumni from their mental health and wellbeing “Feeling Funny” stand-up comedy course that engages men across Liverpool and Sefton enabling them to improve their mental health and wellbeing whilst working to eradicate the stigma that surrounds men’s mental health.
There is truly something for everyone including Stand-Up, Sketch, Improv, Workshops, Comedy Battles, Open Mic Nights, Theatre, Comedy Dining, Cabaret and even a sprinkle of magic. The festival will take over Liverpool turning the funniest city in the UK into the funniest city across the planet at an impressive 18 venues across the city region including 81 Renshaw; Unity Theatre; Echo Arena; Laughterhouse Comedy; Empire Theatre; Liverpool Comedy Central; Hot Water Comedy Club; Jacaranda; Liverpool Comedy Club; The Epstein Theatre; Liverpool Everyman Bistro; Liverpool Philharmonic; HUS; Royal Court Theatre; Mr Ho’s Karaoke Bar; Espresso Plus, Constellations and Hangar 34.
