Kirkby Gallery is delighted to present Five, an exhibition showcasing five of the best painters currently living or working in the borough: Gary McGillivray, Gill Cowley, Leslie Briggs, Mike Kirby and Nick Daly.
The five artists each take a different approach to their work and use a range of techniques and media to produce stunning portraits, landscapes and street scenes. In this exhibition, we explore the practice of each artist and show a rare insight into how they develop their ideas from sketches through to fully accomplished paintings.
Within the gallery is The Artists’ Studio – as the name suggests, on numerous days each week, the exhibiting artists will take residency and work within the space, enabling the public to observe and engage with them. Families are encouraged to get creative and make their own artwork, with a range of fun activities linked to the exhibition.
In addition to the five artists’ work, there is a display of the work of five budding young artists from Knowsley schools in the entrance stairwell and corridor, giving them an opportunity to exhibit in a professional gallery, gain exposure and increase their confidence.
