The Samba beats will be playing through the city once more as Liverpool Carnival Company are excited to announce that one of Liverpool’s highlight events, Brazilica Festival, returns for another sensational and flamboyant spectacle for 2018 on Friday 13 & Saturday 14 July.

Last year’s festival included a packed programme leading up to the main Carnival Day on the Saturday, in what was the festival’s milestone 10th year!

2018 promises to be even bigger and better, and Brazilica will form part of the city-wide year-long cultural programme of events, as Liverpool celebrates its 10-year anniversary of being named Capital of Culture.

The sights, sounds and tastes of Brazil will take over the streets once again; organisers have revealed that the Brazilian Film Festival makes a welcome return for a fourth year, plus a Fringe Festival packed with a wealth of exhibitions, workshops and performances.

Organisers are building new partners and will be bringing their fringe events to even more new venues across the city for 2018.

The hugely popular and extravagant Carnival Queen competition will also return on Friday 13 July; the winner crowned at the event will lead the sensational night-time Carnival Parade on Saturday 14 July which remains the main festival highlight and features Samba bands from across the UK and overseas.

2017’s Carnival Parade attracted in excess of 35,000 people, the crowds lined the route as it made its way from Abercrombie Square through the city centre streets. This year’s parade route will be announced in due course.

Maeve Morris of Liverpool Carnival Company said: “Brazilica is back for what promises to be another fabulous year! Last year’s festival was an explosion of colour, music and dance and was without doubt our best year to date, in what saw us celebrate our 10th year. And with 2018 marking the 10th anniversary of the city’s landmark Capital of Culture, we are delighted to be a part of the cultural programme in what will be a sensational year for Liverpool.

“There will be lots going on at this year’s festival with a full programme of events celebrating the very best of Brazilian culture and we are excited to announce the full details over the coming months.”

Full programme details to be announced soon. Keep up to date at:
