Following last year’s critically acclaimed run, Daniel Taylor’s immersive production of Shakespeare’s most magical comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, returns. This will play as part of an alternating repertoire with the greatest love story of all time, Romeo & Juliet.

The magical comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, adapted by Helen Jeffrey, was our first Shakespeare production, receiving rave reviews from arts critics and excellent audience feedback.

During a two-week run, audiences will also be able to watch the most tragic romance of all time, Romeo and Juliet.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.

This production is designed to appeal to a young audience and will be of particular interest to GCSE students as the play is currently included in the National Curriculum.

Romeo and Juliet is regarded as the greatest love story of all time. The production will be set in strife torn protestant and catholic Liverpool. Two young star-crossed lovers are caught in the middle of feuding families with tragic consequences. Family, religion and conflict are the essence of this production.
