When Dave Critchley, Head Chef at Lu Ban restaurant in Liverpool, saw his restaurant close he knew he had to do something.
Having worked with a group of amazing local independent suppliers for many years, he recognised they collectively had something to offer. In a time when businesses in the hospitality sector are fighting to stay in business and members of the community are finding it difficult to buy fresh produce from local supermarkets, this was a win-win situation.
LIDS, Liverpool Independent Delivered Services was created.
“When the crisis started to worsen and our restaurant and outlets across the industry closed last week I knew I had to do something’, said Dave, ‘I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing local suppliers over the years and knew these guys would want to do something and rise to the challenge. We’ve had support from across the industry and are in the final stages of putting our online shop together which means people will be able to get deliveries of all their much-needed fresh items all in one place.”
For those in self-isolation, working hours that prevent them from popping to the shops to those who discover there are huge waits on delivery slots, then this may be an alternative you’re looking for.
LIDS has brought together some of the region’s leading suppliers including, the Scotch Beef Shop, The Little Shoe Bakery, Liverpool Cheese Company, Laura’s Little Bakery, McKuhens Butchers, H. Jesse Seafood, veg, dry goods and dairy produce from Liverpool Produce Company and cleaning products from Ware UK.
If you are on the lookout for fresh produce and would like to support local suppliers, then why not give the LIDS a try. From wine, artisan cheeses and cakes to fish, bread and pastries and fresh fruit and veg they have it covered. Open from Monday to Saturday across the Merseyside area, they can deliver the next day on most occasions.
