FORMER Hollywood star, Gloria Graheme (Annette Bening), is now performing in theatres in the UK. When she collapses one night,

Directed by Paul McGuigan, FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL stars Annette Bening (American Beauty, Bugsy, Being Julia) and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Fantastic Four, King Kong) and will open across the UK on 17 November. Reviews are widely positive, with an overwhelming 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

After a hugely successful home premiere at FACT this Monday, the Lionsgate & Eon Productions are now rolling out the Oscar-tipped movie all over the country. Monday’s premiere saw Hollywood switch the red carpet for the cobbles of Wood Street, with Dame Julie Walters (Harry Potter, Billy Elliot, Mamma Mia!), IM Global Founder, Stuart Ford, Bond Series Film Producer Barbara Broccoli (Skyfall, Spectre, Goldeneye), Producer Colin Vaines (Gangs of New York, Coriolanus) Leanne Best (Cold Feet, Tin Star, Fortitude) and Screenwriter, Matt Greenhalgh (Nowhere Boy, Control), attending right here in the heart of Liverpool.

Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening) in 1978 Liverpool. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme-fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort. Their passion and lust for life is tested to the limits by events beyond their control.

The film also stars honorary scouser, Academy Award Nominee, BAFTA & Golden Globe Winning Actress Dame Julie Walters. As well as local-favourite, Stephen Graham (Little Boy Blue, Snatch, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy) and six-time Academy Award-nominee & Academy Award-winner, Vanessa Redgrave (Julia, Camelot, Atonement).

The film has strong performances from both Annette Bening & Jamie Bell, with many claiming Jamie Bell put in a career-defining performance and really coming into his own since his early performance as his unforgettable character, Billy Elliot.
