Local printing business creates legacy for future generations of readers at Calderstones Mansion House.

Prinovis, a business leading the way in the printing industry, is giving back to the Merseyside community and supporting local charity The Reader Organisation through a week-long volunteer project: the creation of the Prinovis Reading Room at Calderstones Mansion House between Monday 27th – Friday 1st May.

Over 40 members of Prinovis’ staff will be donating their time and skills in order to make their mark on a legacy project that will benefit both the service users who attend for free the weekly reading groups held in this room, and future visitors to the historic Grade II listed Mansion House. Gifts including paint, furniture, books and bookshelves have also been provided for the reading room’s development, by a number of Prinovis’ partner organisations and suppliers.

The room renovation marks a key chapter in the story of the Mansion House’s transformation into the heart of a community hub in Calderstones Park, made possible by The Reader Organisation’s signing of a 125 year lease for the building in September 2014. With social enterprises, reading rooms and community venues all at this beautiful site, The Reader aims to combat an increasingly disconnected world while generating sustainable income and creating jobs. Four million pounds is needed to fully restore the Mansion House, the majority of which is coming from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other funders, as well as from donations, philanthropic giving and community fundraising.

The Reader is proud to be laying the foundations of an ongoing relationship with Prinovis through this project, and hopes that Prinovis’ innovative hands-on approach to corporate social responsibility will inspire other local companies to don the overalls and pick up a paint brush, to bring the vision of Calderstones to life.

Photos of the volunteers in action during the creation of the Prinovis Reading Room will be available from next week.

The official launch of the Prinovis Reading Room will be held on Tuesday 9th June, with attendance from Prinovis and other corporate organisations from the local community.
