Schools and colleges have sent in their Poppy displays – have you done a display in your local area you would like to share?

Sandfield Park School

Pupils researched the use of Poppies in Artwork and also the association of Poppies with Remembrance Day. They used this information to inspire their own creative work in watercolour and ceramics.

Knowsley Community Collegey School

Supported Learning students at the college had the idea to sell glitter poppies to raise money for the British Legion. We managed to raise £95!!!!

Emmaus Primary School

All children at Emmaus made a poppy. Each individual poppy artwork piece had the name of a soldier on that had lost their lives from and around the Merseyside area during World War One. Their poppies were displayed in our main hall inspired by the Weeping Window outside St George’s Hall. Children at our school took part in a special remembrance service where each class took a poppy wreath to lay beside the weeping window. At Emmaus each child commemorated a soldier who had died and prayed for them.

Bishop Martin

The children from Bishop Martin CE Primary, Woolton were inspired to create our own ‘Weeping Window’ after seeing the wonderful sculpture of handmade poppes by Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper entitled 14-18 NOW displayed at St George’s Hall in Liverpool.

The children each hand crafted their own poppy using a variety of such as media, felt, paper and cellophane to create the cascading ‘Weeping Window’.

This display serves as a constant reminder in our school hall of all those who fought for our freedom and for those who continue to fight for peace in our world today.
